I’m Cassandra Blaque (she / her). I began voice training early in my transition. At first, I tried to teach myself by watching videos about vocal transition online. After several months, I started getting frustrated because I wasn’t achieving the voice I wanted. Shortly after, I started getting professional vocal instruction. After 9 months of vocal training, I finally had the voice I wanted. A voice I could use without worrying about how others were going to perceive my voice.
Just after that, I started working as a vocal instructor, learning as much as I could about the mechanics of voice and the methods and techniques around transitioning voice. I’ve taught over 80 clients in the last 2 years and it was the most rewarding experience of my life.
Now, due to the times we live in, that place no longer exists, so I decided that I owe it to the trans community to keep gender affirming vocal services available and affordable for every individual who needs it. That’s why we have the lowest private pay rate in the country.
I have a very flexible instruction style and I cater techniques to fit the needs and goals of the individual. I strive to provide a space for learning where everyone can feel comfortable to just be themselves. I also highly value client feedback and always make time to answer any and all questions.
Vocal transition can be a frustrating process, at times, and it’s very common to want immediate results. While I can guide you to your voice fairly quickly, the industry standard for full vocal transition is around 1 year. The reason for that is simply because how we use our voices all comes down to habits, and habits take time and repetition to change. Once it’s all done, your voice will be your own and under your full control.
